VAT calculator for Belgium and France
Turn a net amount into its gross equivalent, or go the other way, using the rates in force in Belgium (6 %, 12 %, 21 %) and France (5.5 %, 10 %, 20 %). Enter a figure and pick a rate; the VAT amount, the net and the gross come out together, so a quote and its tax break down in one glance. The calculation is a pure number, so it runs here on the page with no account and no data sent anywhere.

This tool runs entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.
VAT (value added tax) is added to the net price of most goods and services. In Belgium, the standard rate is 21 %, with reduced rates of 12 % (notably food service) and 6 % (food, medicines, renovation of buildings over 10 years old). In France, the standard rate is 20 %, alongside the 10 %, 5.5 % and 2.1 % rates.
This calculator works in both directions: add VAT to a net amount to get the gross price, or start from a gross amount to recover the net base and the VAT amount — handy for expense reports and tax filings.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a gross price from a net amount?
Multiply the net amount by (1 + rate). Example in Belgium at the standard rate: €100 net × 1.21 = €121 gross.
How do I get the net amount back from a gross price?
Divide the gross amount by (1 + rate). Example: €121 gross ÷ 1.21 = €100 net. Never simply subtract 21 % from the gross — the result would be wrong.
What are the VAT rates in Belgium and France?
Belgium: 21 % (standard), 12 % and 6 % (reduced). France: 20 % (standard), 10 %, 5.5 % and 2.1 % (reduced). Some operations are exempt or subject to reverse charge.
