Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Factur-X and ZUGFeRD?
None in substance: it is the same standard, published jointly by France (FNFE-MPE) and Germany (FeRD). Since version 2.1, the two names denote identical formats.
What do the MINIMUM, BASIC, EN 16931, EXTENDED profiles mean?
They indicate the richness of the XML data: MINIMUM contains only a few totals and identifiers, BASIC adds the invoice lines, EN 16931 covers the full European standard, and EXTENDED goes beyond. For VAT deduction in France, aim for at least BASIC.
My PDF has no embedded XML, is that normal?
It means it is not a Factur-X invoice: it is an ordinary PDF, even if it looks like one. Only compatible invoicing software can produce the embedded XML.
Is my invoice sent to a server?
No. The PDF is read and the XML extracted entirely in your browser — no data leaves your device.
